My trip to Cedar Point

Above Picture: Millennium Force
After making the long drive to Sandusky, Ohio and getting a short night of sleep we headed off to Cedar Point. We made it into the park before the rides opened and decided that we would head to Millennium Force first. I've been all hyped up about riding a giga coaster ever since the news broke that Kings Dominion will get one next season. After a very short wait in line I was sitting in the seat and ready to ride. I would like to point out that the only thing that holds you in the seat is a belt and lap bar, no over the shoulder restraints. The cars are pulled up the 310-foot tall lift hill quickly by a cable lift, and on the way up you have a nice view overlooking Lake Erie. The ride itself was amazing, it was smooth, fast, and gives you plenty of airtime. I was able to get on Millennium Force three times, never waiting more than 25 minutes in line.
Above Picture: Maverick
We were able to ride pretty much everything in the park, the ride with the longest wait time was Maverick, which took us about 45 minutes to get on. It wouldn't have taken quite as long to get on, but someone decided to vomit in one of the cars which caused a short delay. Maverick was my second favorite ride of the day! Most rides had no wait time and we were able to walk right on and ride, which was a surprise since it was a Saturday.
I spent 13 hours in the park on Saturday enjoying rides that were all new to me. I had a great time that I will always remember and I hope to take another trip to Cedar Point soon!

Intamin Giga Coaster coming to Kings Dominion
It's official - Kings Dominion will be constructing an Intamin Giga Coaster (300+ foot lift hill) for the 2010 season. If you would like to see what an Intamin made Giga looks like you can check out the Intamin website at the following link - Intamin Giga Coaster
Visit http://www.kdfansite.com for more info and construction pictures
And since I'm talking about Kings Dominion again, here's a link to some pictures of the old Smurf Mountain ride that were taken when I was a kid.

UFO over Kings Dominion?
You may have already seen this video because news broadcasts all over the country have been showing the clip. This was most likely smoke from the Volcano, but perhaps it was a UFO that got lost trying to find club velvet. Whatever it was, it's fun to read the comments that people leave about it on youtube and other websites.

New roller coaster for 2010 at Kings Dominion

Land clearing started in early June behind the Anaconda for what now appears to be a pretty big roller coaster for 2010 at Kings Dominion. Some pieces of the track arrived Friday and I managed to take a picture. Kings Dominion isn't answering questions about the land clearing or the coaster yet. Good karma for Earl Hickey?

Maybe the EarlTwitition helped after all! There's news that TBS is in talks to pick up My Name Is Earl for atleast 13 new episodes.
I will miss watching Earl on NBC, and it just won't seem right without him on Thursday nights. I've always watched that show and laughed because the characters are so much like actual people that I've encountered from time to time. As a matter of fact, each time I read a post over at Jocelyn's Corner I feel like Richmond is a little closer to Camden County than I thought.
Update 6/16/09: It's official, there will be no new episodes of My Name Is Earl. The series ends after 96 episodes of Karma. Goodbye Earl, Randy and Crabman

Skyler's Day of Hope

Windy Oaks Animal Farm in Hanover County was open to the public today for Skyler's Day of Hope. Admission to see the animals was only $10.00 and all proceeds went to the Skyler Shepperson medical fund. The farm is home to animals such as lemurs, monkeys, camels, emus, kangaroos, and zebras.
I enjoyed my visit and I hope to return to see the animals again in the future. It was nice being able to get so close to the animals, and they all seemed to be very friendly.

What's that in my BBQ?

As I dumped the barbeque into the pan to cook, I started to notice that it contained parts of the pig that I didn't want to eat. Each mystery pig part that I found in the BBQ looked different. The first thing I pulled out was a giant piece of what looked like was once an intestine. I then inspected the so called "BBQ" and I found several things that I couldn't identify. One thing that I found interesting was a two or three inch long tubular worm like object, perhaps it was a vein or something. I have no idea how they make this BBQ, but apparently they don't waste any part of the pig.
I have one unopened container remaining of this stuff, I'd be glad to fix someone a few sandwiches if they want to try it. I doubt anyone will take me up on that offer, so I'll probably end up digging around in this one to see what mystery parts that it contains. I may even take a few pictures of the hidden treasures and post them here

Shiny New Album
I purchased and downloaded John Hampson's Shiny New Album yesterday. After listening to it several times I can say that it was worth the wait.
The album can downloaded at http://www.myspace.com/johnhampson
Shiny New Album
1. On The Road
2. How Much
3. Not Hide Away
4. Miss You So Hard
5. When We Were 22
6. Fight Song
7. Stella
8. Good Time For A Mistake
9. The Last Time
10. Counting The Stars
All ten songs are great, but the chorus for "Miss You So Hard" is so catchy that you'll find yourself hooked on this song from the start
I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you so hard
I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you so hard
How can you say I have no heart
When I'm hitched to you like a railway car
And I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you so hard

Sick of hearing about Jon & Kate
I had no idea who they were or anything about their TV show until recently. I'm sick of hearing about them every time I turn the TV on. The guy looks like a toad and Kate isn't as hot as she apparently thinks she is. The poor kids have been blessed with daddy's looks. Cancel the show and put a lid on this crap already.
